Heath-Carter somatotyping method

Somatotyping, pioneered by William Sheldon in the 1940s is the description of body type based on three components of endomorphy ("fatness"), mesomorphy ("muscularity"), and ectomorphy ("thinness"). A somatotype is usually given as a composite of three numbers, e.g., 711, where each number demonstrates the strength of one of the three components. The most widely used somatotyping method today is that of Heath and Carter. You can read an instruction manual for somatotyping online in pdf form.
