It could be either that the Proto-Central Asian males originally had Y-DNA haplogroups R and/or J and these replaced the Proto-European males (whose original haplogroups we cannot know for certain), or it could be that the Proto-European males originally had Y-DNA haplogroups R and/or J and these replaced the Proto-Central Asian males. Either of these scenarios would produce the result (same Y-DNA, but different mtDNA) that we observe in the modern populations of Europe and Central Asia.Ebizurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16925110639823856429noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7785493.post-22679551975782338712008-04-09T21:51:00.000+03:002008-04-09T21:51:00.000+03:00Central Asians have very high frequencies of East ...Central Asians have very high frequencies of East Asian and Siberian mtDNA haplogroups; that is the major reason for the "profound change" in the population of Central Asia. Many of the female bearers of these East Asian and Siberian mtDNA haplogroups seem to have mated with males who carried haplogroup R or haplogroup J Y-chromosomes, however, so the modern Y-DNA of Central Asian populations looks strangely European in contrast to their mtDNA.Ebizurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16925110639823856429noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7785493.post-12891134811342045382008-04-09T10:03:00.000+03:002008-04-09T10:03:00.000+03:00"The highest frequencies of the Mongoloid componen..."The highest frequencies of the Mongoloid component are typical of the Russian populations from Russian Pomor’e and Northwestern region.
