Facial reconstruction of 5,600-year old Maltese woman

Source: Revealed...the face of a Maltese woman 5,600 years ago

Heritage Malta also launched a 3D virtual reconstruction of facial features based on one of the prehistoric skulls (over 5,000 years old) found at the Xaghra Stone Circle in Gozo. It revealed, for the very first time, what one of the earliest Maltese actually looked like.
It was a face which was much closer to what one would expect from a woman of our day and age rather than that of a person who lived on the islands over 5,000 years ago.

    Hmm, well.
    The main problem with face reconstrucion is, that its unknown how deep the soft material was.

    Usually the thickness of the material is done to match the average of a person this gender, age and ETHNICY.

    Wich would mean, the chosen ethnicy influences the thickness of the soft material and by this, the looks of the outcome.

    In this case it means: Its the skull of the real 5000 years old woman, but the soft material is the average of a modern Maltese woman.

    News this week is that up to half of Maltese appear to have PHOENICIAN genetic origins.
    ps: I think the previous question is --has this woman been DNA tested and if so what is her MtDNA haplogroup?
